Big insurers including Medibank and ahm don't plan to increase premiums until later in the year. Here's 5 deals to help you switch and save before April 1.
Like clockwork, health insurance premiums are set to go up again on April 1.
But there's some good news. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, not all funds are raising prices – so now is a good time to switch and save.
Plus, a bunch of insurers are doing deals that expire at the end of March. If you switch before April 1, you could save hundreds on your policy.
Medibank: Lock in current prices until October, get 6 weeks free + skip waiting periods
Medibank premiums aren't going up until October and they're currently offering 6 weeks free on eligible policies. Plus, they'll waive 2 and 6 month waiting periods on extras like general dental, optical and physio.
ahm: Lock in current prices until October, get 6 weeks free + skip waiting periods
ahm also don't plan to increase premiums until 1 October – 6 months later than most. On top of that, they're currently offering 6 weeks free and you can skip 2 and 6 month waiting periods on extras.
Qantas. Lock in current prices until September and get up to 120,000 Qantas Points
Qantas isn't raising its prices until September. If you sign up with them now, you can earn up to 120,000 Qantas Points. 2 and 6 month waiting periods on extras will also be waived when you take out combined hospital and extras cover.
Nib: Price delay until September, plus 6 weeks free
nib plans to defer its 2.66% price increase until September 1 2022. It's also currently giving you 6 weeks free when you choose any hospital + extras policy by 31 March. Plus, you can skip the 2 and 6 month wait on extras.
